SOHAM COMMUNITY 3G PITCH ANNOUNCEMENT

SOHAM COMMUNITY 3G PITCH ANNOUNCEMENT

Jack Johnson13 Feb - 16:05

STRFC in partnership with Soham Village College, Soham Town Youth and Soham United are delighted to announce that work will start on the 3G next week!

We are thrilled to announce that work will commence on Monday 17th February 2025 for Soham’s Community 3G Pitch. This project has taken hours of careful planning, hard work and dedication. After 5 years, the project will look to be finished at the end of July ready for the new season.

Club Chairman, Jonathan James, had this to say about the exciting news:

“As we take another step closer to the work starting on Soham’s new 3G pitch, it is important to understand just what a game-changer it will be for football in our town and the neighbouring villages. For way too long, football teams in Soham have had to travel to other towns and villages to gain the benefit of playing on a 3G surface. Imminently we will be able to use this much-needed facility in our town and it will benefit us all. Whilst I speak on behalf of Soham Town Rangers FC, I also know Soham Town Rangers Youth FC and Soham United all very much look forward to training on the pitch as well as holding competitive matches on it. Exciting times ahead!”

Chair of Soham Town Rangers Youth, Melanie Brasher, added:

“Having this facility in the heart of our town will benefit all of the 400 youth players who currently play football in Soham, not to mention the generations to come. It will also reduce the amount of avoidable travel our young players have to do to access winter training, significantly reducing the clubs carbon footprint.

Outside of the football club, this facility will also benefit the physical education of young people at Soham Village College.

This major development is one we are extremely proud of and is another step towards ensuring football remains accessible to all in Soham!”

We will provide further information in due course.
