Playing their second game in three days, the Greens made three changes to the side which beat Romford on Saturday with Captain Jordan Gent, Simon Swinton and Ross Paterson all returning having missed the weekend fixture.

The game wasn’t even a minute old when the hosts opening the scoring after only thirty-seven sevens when Jeckells’ punched clearance fell to Jack Edwards, who from outside the area fired a low shot into the bottom corner of the net. The early goal appeared to shock the visitors with Aveley going onto control the opening half an hours play with Seymour, Reticeri, Nash and Pindy all having efforts as the half continued before the Millers doubled their lead in the 32nd minute when Abs Seymour was given space to turn and get in a shot from the edge of the area with the ball beating Jeckells into the corner of the net. The Greens’ first meaning effort on target came with the next attack, but after cutting in from the left Mason placed wide before the visitors pulled a goal back a minute later when Paterson collected Chadwick’s ball in the middle of the pitch, delivering it to the right of the area where Salim Relizani fired a low shot across Marrable. Soham could have levelled on the stroke of half time however Yala managed to get back and clear from in front of Paterson as he attempted to reach Chadwick’s by-line pass.

Aveley made a couple of changes within the opening ten minutes of the second half with Dunn and Edwards also heading wide from corners. Around the hour mark, Soham started to create more attacks on the host’s goal with Paterson and Mason both putting wide of target before a well-placed Dunn cleared Paterson’s shot off his own goal line. But any hopes Soham had of getting back into the game were dented with sixteen minutes remaining when Aveley scored their third goal of the match when Perry Dunn was given space inside the area to head Tobon’s corner low into the net. Soham pushed more forward in the closing stages but were unable to really test Marrable with Relizani putting over from a corner just before the end.
